Jordan Wax: Yiddish Song for a New Generation

Richmond Folk Music at Congregation Or Ami opens their fall schedule with Jordan Wax on Saturday September 19 at 7:30 p.m.  

 

Jordan is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in New Mexico. Drawing on the rich legacy of Yiddish song and klezmer music, his performances honor the Ashkenazi musical heritage with a fresh, contemporary artistic voice. 

 

His acclaimed album, The Heart Deciphers (Taytsh), showcases original Yiddish songs that blend traditional influences with modern sensibilities. When he is not performing his beloved Yiddish songs, Jordan works with traditional New Mexico musicians as a member of the acclaimed New Mexican string band, Lone Piñon. 

 

Whether performing on accordion, fiddle, or voice, Jordan brings an artistic vision that connects past and present through song.  Advance tickets will be available in early August.
