Richmond’s independent, progressive Jewish community, recently brought two powerful ideas together: real-world connection and digital engagement. This spring, the community launched The Kehillah RVA Podcast, an audio experience that blends storytelling, spiritual reflection, Jewish wisdom, and local flavor.
The early episodes set the tone with intimate, thoughtful topics. “Significant Change Requires Significant Relationships” explored Ecclesiastes, vulnerability, and how sacred community meets everyday life. “Big Picture” took listeners on a deeply personal journey of gratitude and survival, drawing on childhood memories and the Shehecheyanu blessing. The podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and at KehillahRVA.org/podcast.
Shavuot Celebration
To pair the spiritual with the sweet, Kehillah celebrated Shavuot with an all-ages event that featured a literal Mount Sinai–sized mountain of ice cream.
Held at Art Factory, the celebration included interactive storytelling, pizza, creative activities, and a “free Jewish kids’ bookstore” thanks to PJ Library. Dozens of children left with both sticky fingers and stories to remember.
Upcoming Events
Kehillah’s summer calendar continues with several opportunities to connect: a home-hosted Shabbat at a congregant home on July 25; an adult learning class at Rabbi Patrick’s on Tuesday, July 22, and a Shabbat morning Torah study at Rabbi Patrick’s on Saturday, July 26.
As always, if you’re someone who wants community, but is not interested in large, public gatherings, and membership dues, then Kehillah is for you!
