Kehillah Happenings

As the High Holidays fade into fall, Kehillah invites Richmonders to stay connected with new opportunities for learning, celebration, and community.

Whether you’re looking to explore prayer, share a Shabbat meal, or find spiritual connection, Kehillah has something for everyone.

Rebbetzin Stefanie Papps will lead a hands-on class teaching the structure and melodies of the Friday night service. Participants receive short online videos to practice with before class, then gather to learn how the prayers flow together and how to lead them with confidence. No Hebrew experience is required. A $10 materials fee applies, with assistance available through Kehillah Cares.

Kehillah’s popular Home Hosted Shabbats bring community and connection into members’ homes. This month’s dinner takes place at Ellen and Ross’s home in Henrico (address provided upon RSVP). The evening includes conversation, blessings, songs, reflections from Rabbi Patrick, and a musical service led by Rebbetzin Stefanie.

Join Rabbi Patrick at his home for bagels, lox, and Torah. Together, the group will study Vayera (Genesis 18:1–22:24)—the story of Sarah’s laughter, the destruction of Sodom, and Abraham’s test of faith. All are welcome, regardless of Jewish knowledge or background. Vegan and gluten-free options available upon request.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, Dec. 21, at The Art Factory in Midlothian. The celebration includes a bring-your-own-menorah lighting, free sufganiyot (jelly donuts), crafts, music, and a free Judaica and Jewish bookstore. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with menorah lighting at 6 p.m.. All are welcome!
