Kehillah Mountain of Ice Cream Shavuot Returns to Midlothian
Kehillah, the independent Jewish community of Richmond and beyond, is offering an open and inclusive Shavuot celebration, continuing to birth the Jewish community in Midlothian, where there is no organized Jewish presence.
The special event is set for Friday, May 22, at the Art Factory, 4810 Market Square Lane, Midlothian.
“The Jews of Brandermill, Woodlake, and throughout Chesterfield County deserve holiday experiences like this,” says Kehillah’s spiritual leader and co-founder, Rabbi Patrick Beaulier. “And I cannot think of anything more spectacular than a mountain of ice cream.”
Open to the public, this celebration of the harvest holiday of Shavuot (and the anniversary of the giving of the Ten Commandments) will include an interactive Shavuot storytelling featuring a "Mount Sinai Sized Mountain of Ice Cream" and musical performance by Rabbi Patrick and musician Robin Rio.
Pizza and other goodies are available while they last, and Kehillah is thrilled to be partnering with Art Factory to provide art activities for kids, as well as a “free Jewish kids bookstore”, with books available to take home free of charge.
This is a casual, contemporary gathering: no Hebrew experience or membership required. Interfaith and family friendly. All are welcome!
The event is free entry, but RSVP is required. Donations are encouraged to benefit Kehillah’s holiday programming.
