Beth Ahabah Happenings

Young Adult Mezuzah Making

Toward the end of January, a group of young adults gathered at Beth Ahabah to create Tu Bishvat-themed mezuzah cases from polymer clay. After rolling out the clay and cutting it into shapes for the front and back of the case, participants used specialized clay cutters and glass rhinestones to add designs.

After baking, the mezuzah cases are now ready to decorate doorposts! The event was sponsored by Beth Ahabah’s Young Adult Community Kibbitz (YACK) and Temple Beth-El’s The Bridge.
Young adults (20s – 40s) are invited to join YACK for its next program on Thursday, March 26—a movie night featuring the Barbra Streisand classic, Yentl.

Women of Beth Ahabah Shabbat
Women of Beth Ahabah, which is part of the Union of Reform Judaism, supports synagogue life, actively participates in our local community, and supports national and international causes through volunteer hours and monetary donations.

On Friday, January 30, Women of Beth Ahabah members led the Erev Shabbat service with guest speaker Aimee Ginsburg Bikel, who spoke about her remarkable life. She talked about her time as a journalist, her travels, and her marriage to actor Theodore Bikel.

After the service, everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared and served by the Beth Ahabah Brotherhood. We look forward to celebrating the contributions of the Beth Ahabah Brotherhood in April, with a dinner provided by the Women of Beth Ahabah.

UR Brotherhood Basketball Game
On January 31, Beth Ahabah members of all ages braved frigid temperatures to attend a University of Richmond basketball game sponsored by the Beth Ahabah Brotherhood. After a pizza dinner, the group headed into the stands to cheer on the spiders. Despite a disappointing loss to Davidson College, everyone had a good (and warm) time, and some of our youngest members were introduced to basketball at the Robins Center!

On the Horizon
Purim is here!
