Beth Ahabah Happenings

Shabbat Service Celebrating Brotherhood
Beth Ahabah Brotherhood members volunteer at the synagogue and in our community throughout the year—cooking, serving meals, helping local organizations, and more. The organization sponsors baseball games, basketball games, football games, winery outings, and other social events for Beth Ahabah members.

On Friday, April 17, the congregation celebrated the Beth Ahabah Brotherhood at an Erev Shabbat service. Ken Roeper, First Vice President of the congregation, presented Brittany Savage with the Sam Troy Person of the Year Award for her dedication and service to the congregation. Afterward, the Women of Beth Ahabah cooked and served a delicious dinner. Thank you so much to all of our amazing volunteers!

Lag B’Omer High School Hangout
On Lag B’Omer, 8th – 12th graders gathered around a firepit in Beth Ahabah’s courtyard for an evening of learning—and for some delicious s’mores!

Last Day of Religious School
Religious School ended on Sunday, April 26th.

The day began with a pancake breakfast prepared and served by the Beth Ahabah Brotherhood and continued with a full morning of classroom learning. At the end of the morning, teachers and madrichim received gifts and hearty thank you’s for an incredible year!

An ice cream party awaited everyone upon dismissal. We hope everyone has a fantastic summer, and we can’t wait to see all of our families in the fall (if not before)!

Lewis I. Held Award
On Friday, May 1, the congregation honored three graduating high school seniors for their service to the congregation.

All three have worked as madrichim in the Religious School. During their time in high school, they have been involved with Beth Ahabah's youth group leadership, helped with synagogue events, assisted with young family programming, and have been active in various high school organizations. Congratulations to Anna, Avi, and Chayla!

BATTY Busch Gardens Trip
On Saturday, May 2, a group of Beth Ahabah teens celebrated the end of the Religious School year with a trip to Busch Gardens. They enjoyed rides, food, friendship, and a Hanson concert at the end of the day.

Annual Meeting
Congregation Beth Ahabah held its annual meeting on Sunday, May 17.

We welcomed three new members to the Board of Managers and one new congregational Trustee. 5786 was a great year, and we are looking forward to 5787!

YACK Shavuot Butter and Cheese Making

Beth Ahabah's Young Adult Community Kibbitz (YACK) presented a cheese and butter making program in celebration of Shavuot on Monday, May 18.

After group introductions and dinner, Rabbi Nagel spoke about the holiday and shared customs and traditions before everyone had the chance to help make either farmer's cheese or butter. Participants went home with fresh cheese and butter to enjoy!
