On Friday, July 10th, members and guests gathered for Shabbat services followed by a cookout featuring hot dogs, burgers, and traditional picnic-style sides. 

Thank you to the Beth Ahabah Brotherhood for grilling and serving the delicious dinner! We are looking forward to our second (and last) summer cookout in August.

Israeli Teens Visit

Beth Ahabah was thrilled to host a group of Israeli and American teens on Monday, July 13. The group met with Rabbi Nagel and Beth Ahabah Museum and Archives staff, who gave them tours of the sanctuary and the synagogue’s museum. 

Afterward, Richmond’s Shlicha, Tal Bahar, led a watercolor painting workshop. We hope that all our Israeli friends enjoyed their time in Richmond!

Upcoming Services/Activities

Throughout the month of August, Erev Shabbat Onegs will feature an extra cool treat—a snow cone station with flavors for everyone, including those over 21.

Young adults (20s – 40s) are invited to an evening of roller skating on Monday, August 10 and an afternoon of apple picking on Sunday, September 13. For more information about young adult events, contact Riley Miner at education@bethahabah.org.

Tot Shabbats are on hiatus for the summer, but they are returning on Saturday, October 24! Designed especially for kids 0-5 years old (and the people who drive them around), Tot Shabbat is a fun musical program that introduces the youngest members of our community to Shabbat traditions, prayers, and songs. Religious School

Religious School kicks off on Sunday, September 27 with Sunday Fun Day—a day of learning, sweet treats, and a very warm welcome to our new and returning students! 

We offer classes for children from preschool to 7th grade with a custom curriculum developed by our clergy and staff. 

Students in 8th – 12th grade have the opportunity to join our Madrichim Team as teaching assistants—and to participate in our specially designed educational and social programs for teens. 2nd – 12th graders are invited to participate in our National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY)-affiliated programs.
