Special Fathers Network U.S. Tour Comes to FCVA on June 10

By Tanya Buresh-Werby, Assistant Director

Friendship Circle of Virginia will host an inspiring morning of connection, support, and community as part of the Special Fathers Network U.S. Tour on Wednesday, June 10, from 8:30–10 a.m. Breakfast will be provided.

This meaningful gathering invites fathers, mothers, caregivers, and family members to come together for conversation, encouragement, and shared understanding. Guests will have the opportunity to meet local mentor fathers, connect with others on similar journeys, and hear from author and podcast host David Hirsch, founder of the Special Fathers Network.

“We are so excited to host our first dads’ event because we know how powerful it is when fathers have the opportunity to connect with one another, share resources, and build real camaraderie with others who understand their journey. Friendship Circle is built on creating meaningful friendships and connection, and this morning is another way to bring families together through support, encouragement, and community.” said Sarah Kranz-Ciment, Executive Director of Friendship Circle of Virginia.

Each attendee will also receive a complimentary copy of “Dads Raising Children With Special Needs & Disabilities: A Guide for 21st Century Dads,” a resource designed to support fathers navigating the parenting journey of a child with special needs.

The morning will also feature special guest speaker and radio host Jeff Katz, an award-winning multimedia personality, professional coach, and inspirational speaker.

“Central Virginia is so fortunate to be a part of the Special Dads event being hosted by The Friendship Circle. Many times, I've found that the focus has been on moms of special needs children with dads relegated to playing simply a supporting role. Make no mistake, dads are called upon to step up and go the extra mile when special kiddos are part of the family. Active, thoughtful, loving men are a vital component to the extra special family. It's never easy for men to ask for help and it's doubly difficult when one, or more, of the children is dealing with extra challenges. This event will be a great reminder to dads that we're in this together and we've got each other's back.”

The Special Fathers Network (SFN) is a mentoring initiative that connects fathers raising children with special needs and disabilities. The network now spans more than 900 dads across 14 countries, offering mentorship and peer support to fathers at all stages of their parenting journey.
