Visiting Team Highlights Schoolwide Strength, Vision, and Transformative Growth
RTA–Richmond Hebrew Day School is pleased to share that the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS) Visiting Team issued a highly favorable Interim Evaluation Report following its review in November 2025.
The letter accompanying the report was written by Jonathan Brand, Head of School at Grymes Memorial School in Orange, Virginia, who served as Chair of the VAIS Visiting Team. His letter was addressed to RTA Head of School Rabbi Elisha Paul and reflects the strong impression the team formed during its time on campus.
The VAIS Visiting Team included independent school leaders representing curriculum, governance, business operations, and program.
Over several days, they visited classrooms, reviewed curriculum and strategic documents, and spoke extensively with parents, teachers, students, administrators, and board members. Their report affirms the vitality and strength of RTA’s mission and highlights the significant advancements that have taken place under Rabbi Paul’s leadership.

Brand expressed deep appreciation for the visit and noted that the team was struck by Rabbi Paul’s leadership, the clarity of the school’s strategic vision, and the steady progress RTA has made across all areas of school life. In his words, the team was “impressed by your leadership in guiding the school and your success in carrying out the School’s ambitious and comprehensive strategic plan.” He also noted the enthusiasm of parents, the dedication of faculty, and the high level of support from the RTA Board.
