Kirva Hospice: Caring for the Caregiver

Reflector Main Assets (36)

At Kirva Hospice, we know that the end-of-life journey is not a procedure, like a surgery or visit to the dentist. It’s a process. Choosing hospice simply means that a patient has chosen to discontinue certain medical treatments and is trusting us to help them make the most of the rest of their lives. This means treating them with compassion, meeting their medical needs and keeping them pain-free, and offering them support and respect so that they can live in dignity.

We also know that this journey is not solitary. Joining them are spouses, siblings, children, and friends. Our counselors and staff provide them with support to make certain that they, too, walk this path in grace and dignity.

Our patients may be with us for weeks, months, or longer. The emotional path that their loved ones and caregivers walk is not a simple one. The day-to-day care that a hospice patient requires can be taxing. Our support to caregivers allows them the time and peace to step away from the daily needs of their loved one so that they can make the most of the time they have with them.

Ensuring their quality of life allows them to better contribute to the quality of life of the person in hospice.
