From championing a strong US-Israel relationship to fighting antisemitism and standing up for women’s health equity, Hadassah and Hadassah Richmond are making a difference, bringing healing and justice to the world.
Believing that women have an important role in driving legislative policy, Hadassah Richmond plays a strong role in supporting legislation that is important to us, including:
- Strengthening U.S.-Israel Relations
- Combating Antisemitism
- ReConceiving Infertility
- Championing Women's Health Equity
- Ensuring Reproductive Rights
The Virginia General Assembly opens on January 14 and runs through March 16. Hadassah Richmond will follow and voice our positions on bills throughout the General Assembly, providing Advocates with Action Alerts to inform their Delegates and Senators of their positions.
Of specific concern to Hadassah Richmond will be legislation related to Women's Health, the only Jewish organization in Central Virginia to do so. Of particular interest are the constitutional amendments to be voted on by both the House and the Senate for the second year and, if accepted, be voted on by the electorate in November 2026. These bills (Companion Bills) include:
- HJ1 - Constitutional amendment; fundamental right to reproductive freedom (second reference).
- SJ1 - Constitutional amendment (first reference); fundamental right to reproductive freedom.
- As well as other bills relevant to women's health.
Additionally, working with the JCFR/JCRC we will follow bills relevant to the Jewish community, including bills regarding Israel and antisemitism (including within Higher Education and K12).
