Hadassah Richmond – Get Out the Vote!

Members of Hadassah Richmond “Get Out the Vote” initiative team met about communicating the importance of voting in the upcoming November 3rd election and educating the public about the Constitutional Amendment for Reproductive Freedom. 

 

Hadassah believes that there is a unique Jewish/religious perspective on women's reproductive health that relates to religious freedom. These views are shared by a cross section of the Jewish community. Hadassah is committed to ensuring the women - not elected officials or employers - control their own bodies and family planning decisions. 

 

In the election, the Virginia Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment will be on the ballot for voters to ratify. While there are two additional constitutional amendments to ratify, Hadassah only supports the Virginia Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment. 

 

The official ballot questions for this amendment are as follows: Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to (i) protect the freedom to make personal decisions about prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, birth control, abortion, miscarriage management, and fertility care; (ii) protect doctors, nurses, and patients from being punished for these decisions; and (iii) allow for restrictions on access to abortion during the third trimester of pregnancy except when the patient's health is at risk or the pregnancy cannot survive? 

 

This amendment not only applies to women but is supported by men who have women in their lives now or will in the future. It applies to women in everyone’s lives: mothers, sisters, daughters, cousins, friends etc. 

Hadassah and Community Members: Your Freedom is on the Ballot This November 3rd. 

By voting the YES on the Reproductive Amendment you are stopping the government from interfering in your personal healthcare decisions.
