Hadassah Richmond Advocacy

As the Virginia election of state offices for Governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney General, and for the entire House of Delegates (but not the Senate) has concluded, it’s time for Hadassah Richmond to set our eyes on the Virginia General Assembly.

As in previous years we will be following policy issues of importance to Hadassah to include:

Hadassah Richmond is the Jewish community voice from Central Virginia on reproductive choice and this year, as in the past, will be in support of the Constitutional Amendment to enshrine reproductive choice into the Virginia constitution. When passed this year we, the electorate, will have the opportunity in November 2026 to vote our approval of its addition to the Virginia Constitution. We will also follow other relevant women’s health bills including those related to infertility, family health and contraception and provide support or opposition based on Hadassah policy.

As well, in collaboration with the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond/Jewish Community Relations Committee, we will follow bills of shared policy concerns relevant to Israel, the rise in antisemitism, safety and security, and other similar bills.

We need YOU to assist us in contacting members of the General Assembly as bills come up for votes.  Be on the lookout for messages and Action Alerts as well as speakers at hearings to voice your position on the bills.
