Hadassah Keepers of the Gate members make an annual commitment to Hadassah of $1,000 or more annually to support the many endeavors and work of Hadassah around the world.
Richmond is honored to have about 50 Keepers of the Gate in our chapter. In main photo: Keepers Claudia Biegler, Phyllis Ellenbogen, Frona Colker
Keepers were invited to a special Brunch in the Sukkah at Amy Melnick Scharf’s home (which turned into Brunch in the House due to weather). The rain did not dampen the spirits or the community of the group who were treated to a delicious brunch.

They also got to hear about our region’s Harmony of Healing Campaign, what it means to be a Keeper, and then were treated to a musical performance from Taylor Baltimore who will be starring in the Weinstein JCC’s upcoming performance of Guys and Dolls.

Members of Hattie Shocket’s (OBM) family were also in attendance. Hattie, a long time Hadassah member left a small bequest to Hadassah Richmond and we wanted to honor her memory.

Leslie Baron, co-chair of the event, summed it up, “Volunteering to do a ‘Keeper of the Gate’ program for Hadassah is quite a rewarding task. We have the opportunity to thank our members for their generosity from year to year but also share how the history of Hadassah goes from generation to generation. Please consider becoming a Keeper!
