Hadassah Advocacy Update: Federal Legislation

Hadassah nationally addressed issues surrounding the National Educators Association (NEA). Hadassah was proud to sign the Communal Letter to the National Education Association President opposing a business item to weaken education on antisemitism and the Holocaust. We are grateful to the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond for their support as well and in connecting with the Virginia Education Association (VEA) regarding the issue.

Condemn Sexual Violence: Currently, we urge Congress to be a leader in combating sexual violence in conflict. On October 7, 2023, Hamas systematically weaponized sexual violence against innocent civilians. In a new report, 15 former hostages bravely came forward to share the horrific sexual violence and abuse they endured while in illegal captivity. Failure to condemn sexual violence only emboldens terrorists to assault and murder innocent civilians across the globe. A new bipartisan resolution, H.Res.525, condemns the weaponization of rape and affirms the United States role in eliminating sexual violence in conflict. Tell your lawmakers to speak out against sexual violence in conflict!
