FCVA to Host 5th Annual Disability Inclusion Day at CarMax Park

Friendship Circle of Virginia proudly hosts its 5th Annual Disability Inclusion Day on Sunday, May 10, at the newly constructed CarMax Park, in partnership with the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

This year is especially exciting as attendees will experience the energy of the brand-new, family-friendly ballpark while enjoying a fun-filled afternoon of baseball. The Richmond Flying Squirrels designed the new stadium with accessibility in mind, incorporating feedback and observations gathered from past Disability Inclusion Day events to help create a more welcoming experience for fans of all abilities.

Friendship Circle is distributing 2,000 complimentary tickets through a network of disability and mental health organizations across the Richmond region. The event remains open to the entire community, welcoming everyone to enjoy a day of inclusive baseball.

Disability Inclusion Day brings together people with and without disabilities for a shared afternoon at the ballpark, enjoying America’s favorite pastime, baseball. From cheering on the Flying Squirrels to exploring the park’s family-friendly features, the day is all about making it possible for everyone to enjoy the game together.

Over the past five years, Disability Inclusion Day has grown into a signature event, reflecting Friendship Circle’s mission of bringing people of all abilities together through shared experiences and friendship.

To ensure accessibility and comfort for all attendees, the day will feature:

  • A dedicated sensory zone

  • Lower speaker volume in designated sections

  • Closed captioning

  • Audio description services

  • Sensory break bags

  • Dietary alternatives

  • Adult changing area

  • And more

Friendship Circle of Virginia is grateful for the ongoing partnership with the Richmond Flying Squirrels and is excited to experience Disability Inclusion Day at the newly constructed ballpark together.
