Dr. Jennifer M. Morgan of JFS has received Prestigious National Award

JFS Richmond is proud to announce that Dr. Jennifer M. Morgan has received the Tresa Roebuck Spencer Award for Excellence in Advocacy from the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN). She was recognized at NAN’s 50th annual conference in Los Angeles on Nov. 5.

Dr. Morgan (pictured, far left above), who has been with JFS since April 2022, has spent years working to make sure neuropsychologists have a voice in important healthcare conversations. She serves on committees and workgroups with the National Academy of Neuropsychology and the American Psychological Association.

This award, introduced three years ago, honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to advocating for the field of neuropsychology. Recipients are selected for their efforts to raise awareness, influence policy and create meaningful change that supports both professionals and the people they serve.

This year’s recognition is especially meaningful to Dr. Morgan after having worked side-by-side with Dr. Spencer, whom the award is named after, making this distinction both personal and deeply significant.

Dr. Morgan has spent years working to make sure neuropsychologists have a voice in important healthcare conversations. She serves on committees and workgroups with the National Academy of Neuropsychology and the American Psychological Association.  In Virginia, Dr. Morgan has served in leadership roles with the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists (VACP). She currently chairs two of its committees—Healthcare Benefits and Regulatory Affairs—and serves on its Diversity and Awards Committees.

In her roles, Dr. Morgan’s advocacy efforts focus on increasing access to neuropsychological services by promoting quality care and best practices.  Along with her amazing colleagues, she continues to work on developing quality measures for neuropsychologists that aim to lift both clinical practice and reimbursement opportunities.

She also contributed to writing guidelines for neuropsychologists returning to work during the COVID-19 pandemic and participated in writing the updates to the 2024 Psychological and Neuropsychological Testing Billing and Coding Guide, an important resource for professionals in the field.

The Tresa Roebuck Spencer Award recognizes Dr. Morgan’s outstanding commitment to advocacy, leadership and improving the lives of patients and practitioners alike.

JFS Richmond congratulates Dr. Morgan on this incredible and well-deserved honor.
