Sara Rosenbaum has been named Chief Philanthropy Officer of the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond, after serving as Chief Impact Officer for several years.
In this position, she leads the Federation’s Development and Fundraising, and Life and Legacy Endowment Initiative.
Federation CEO Daniel Staffenberg noted, “Sara has been a key leader in our organization and community for over 20 years. Her deep strategic insight, strong commitment to our values and mission, and proven ability to build meaningful relationships with our partners and supporters have been invaluable to our Federation for many years.”
Rosenbaum said, “In my role as Chief Impact Officer, I had the incredible opportunity to see our dollars in action—touching lives here in our community and across the globe. Now, in this new role, I’m excited to continue that journey, working alongside an amazing team of Federation professionals, lay leaders, and volunteers. I am especially looking forward to connecting with donors and community members, sharing the stories that inspire us, and making sure they see the real impact of their support.”
Rosenbaum joined the Federation as a development associate in 2004, focused on the Annual Campaign and special projects to support large events such as Super Sunday, the Grand Event, the Annual Meeting and others. Later, as director of operations, she led and coordinated many initiatives, working with lay leadership, educators and volunteers on Israel & Overseas, Richmond Jewish Coalition for Literacy, PJ Library, Young Leadership, Richmond Council for Jewish Education, Jewish Adult Programming, the Reflector, Marketing and much more.
“Effective philanthropic leaders understand the impact of the dollars we raise, our community and why our role is critical to the Jewish future. Sara epitomizes those qualities, and I have every confidence she will excel in this new role,” added Staffenberg.
A native of Richmond, Rosenbaum received a B.A. degree in Communications from the University of Arizona, a Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University, and is a 2017 graduate of the Emerging Nonprofit Leaders Program of the Community Foundation of Richmond. She is also a Sisisky Fellow with the Susan and Mark Sisisky JDC Global Enrichment Fund and took part in a special Mission to Argentina.
