The Pearl Society’s annual Garden Party brought together approximately 20 women for a sunny and meaningful afternoon of philanthropy, creativity, and connection on a Sunday in late May. 

Hosted once again on the beautiful outdoor patio of Chabad of Virginia, the event was marked by warm weather, thoughtful conversation, and a shared commitment to strengthening Jewish community in Richmond and beyond.

Co-chaired by Rachel Safren and Bekah Drucker, the gathering highlighted the power of women’s philanthropy and the relationships fostered through the Pearl Society and the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond. In their remarks, Rachel and Bekah reflected on the ways their involvement has deepened their connections—to one another, to local agencies, and to the broader Jewish community.

Rachel also shared insights into Jewish Family Services (JFS), the beneficiary of this year’s hands-on project. During the program, guests participated in a flower arranging activity, designing their own vibrant bouquets. In a spirit of giving, participants also created arrangements to be shared with JFS’ senior clients, ensuring that each bouquet would brighten someone’s day. The activity provided an opportunity for both creativity and purpose, reinforcing the event’s focus on compassion in action.

The Pearl Society is a giving community within the Federation for women who make a minimum individual gift of $180 or more to the Annual Campaign. Members are united by a shared passion for making a difference, building relationships, and supporting Jewish life locally and around the world. The Garden Party also welcomed several prospective members, offering them a glimpse into the meaningful impact and camaraderie that define the Pearl Society.
