Lindsey Rosenthal has joined the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond’s professional team as Director of Philanthropy and Engagement (Women’s Philanthropy).

Rosenthal is working closely with Chief Philanthropy Officer Sara Rosenbaum and Director of Philanthropy and Engagement (NextGen) Avi Remetz, other Federation staff, lay leaders and partners to strengthen support for the Jewish community locally and globally.

She directed planning for the Federation’s major L’dor V’dor Woman of Valor event in April and a number of other Women’s Philanthropy programs during her first few months at the Federation.

Federation CEO Daniel Staffenberg noted, “Lindsey Rosenthal has joined JCFR at an exciting moment for our work. Her experience, vision, and dedication to strengthening community will be invaluable as we raise the human and financial resources needed to continue building a vibrant and connected future together.”

He added, “She is an outstanding addition to Federation, bringing a dynamic professional background rooted in collaboration, strategic thinking, and community engagement. Her leadership aligns closely with our values, and we are excited to have her help guide our work forward.”

Rosenthal stated, “I’m excited to bring my experience in strategic philanthropy and community engagement to the Federation. In this role, I see my work as creating meaningful pathways for connection and impact, while partnering closely with donors to align their values with the Federation’s priorities.”

She added, “I’m thrilled to join the team and to deepen my roots in the Richmond Jewish community!”

A native of Richmond, she has a long connection to the Richmond Jewish community and grew up at Congregation Beth Ahabah. She has been active in the Federation’s NextGen and Pearl Society programs, as well Temple Beth-El’s Havurah Project.

Rosenthal is a graduate of the University of Virginia where she received a BA in Linguistics and also studied Arts Administration and French. While in college she studied abroad in France.

With more than ten years’ experience as a nonprofit professional, Rosenthal has wide experience across various sectors, including human services, education and arts and culture. Her fundraising work has focused on campaign planning, engagement, annual fund management and major gift growth.

Most recently, Rosenthal spent more than three years as an Associate Consultant with The Curtis Group, advising nonprofits in Richmond and across the U.S. on campaign planning, board and committee engagement, fundraising strategy and campaigns ranging from $3 million to $30 million.

Prior to this position, Rosenthal was a Development Coordinator with the Sacred Heart Center in Richmond where she served as a primary grant researcher and writer and managed the annual cornerstone fundraising event.

Earlier in her career, she was a College Adviser for AdviseVA in Stuart, Va., serving as Patrick County’s primary college and post-secondary planning expert for 1,000 students in a rural high school, and then a Career Coach at Patrick & Henry Community College, Martinsville, Va., serving as a community college liaison with the local high school.
