Light and joy highlighted the first Torch Lighting Ceremony in Richmond marking Israel’s 77th Independence Day celebration.

Seven torchbearers - Phil Bernstein, Cady Bunce, Sarah Kranz-Ciment, Dawn Kowal, Roger Loria, Ephraim Seidman and Conor Shapiro lit torches honoring their contributions to the Jewish community.

(Above) Tal Bahar, one of the program coordinators, also spoke to the community members. 

Attendees also enjoyed distinctive, award-winning fare from JewFro and the Afro-Cuban sounds of Chabibi at the Weinstein JCC.
