Second Stage, the youth theatre wing of Jewish Family Theatre at the Weinstein JCC just opened their spring production of The Prom on May 30.

This is a story performed by teens and young adults ABOUT teens and their very real-life concerns, told through old style, musical joyous song, and dance.

Hanna Clinton, the director of the musical, said in a recent interview, “By telling this story, we hope to guide all teenagers through this confusing period of life with empathy, understanding, and unconditional love.”

Musical director Elle Meerovich went on to say, “How sad it is that the message of inclusivity and acceptance feels more necessary today than it did five years ago when the show first opened on Broadway … our hope is that people will come see our show and leave with, at the very least, space for growth in their hearts.”

As a company that includes both members of the Jewish community and beyond, the Jewish Family Theatre is proud to support stories that highlight and celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion. Come see this show and support these artists! The message is compelling, and the artistry is inspiring. It runs through June 11 at the Sara Belle November Theatre at the Weinstein JCC.
