Join the Weinstein JCC on Tuesday, April 18th at 7 p.m. to commemorate Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom Hashoah) in partnership with the Virginia Holocaust Museum.

WIESENTHAL is a one man play that recounts Simon Wiesenthal, a Jewish Holocaust Survivor who became internationally famous for relentlessly pursuing and bringing nearly 1,100 Nazi war criminals to justice.

He is best known for his role in capturing Adolf Eichmann, the architect of the “Final Solution.”

Actor and playwright, Tom Dugan, will read excerpts and discuss his award-winning one-man play, Wiesenthal. The play begins on the day of his retirement when Simon Wiesenthal invites one last group of students into his office.

With warmth, wit, and surprising humor, the famed “Nazi Hunter” recounts how he tracked down history’s most notorious killers, warning his young friends that although progress has been made since WWII, the human savage still lurks just below this wafer-thin veil of civilization.

According to Dugan, “The book, Wiesenthal, is my way of paying tribute to a man who dedicated his life to justice and the prevention of genocide.”

Dubbed by critics “A National Treasure,” for the past 20 years, Tom Dugan’s one-man plays have thrilled audiences from Beverly Hills, to 42nd Street and have been the subject of many PBS programs throughout North America.

His play, Wiesenthal, honored with multiple awards and nominations including  (NY Drama Desk, NY Critics Circle, L.A. Ovation, L.A. Drama Critics Circle), has enjoyed productions in Israel, India, Australia, Italy and Mexico. A feature film of Wiesenthal, produced by Dan Kaplow, is now in the works.

Books will be available for purchase and book signing will follow the program.

This event is free and open to the community thanks to the generous support of the Henry and Gertrude Kupfer Holocaust Education Fund of Richmond Jewish Foundation.
