I am my Beloved’s and my Beloved is mine. This sweet phrase taken from Shir HaShirim is often used on invitations or on a Ketubah at a wedding.

A Jewish wedding is one of the happiest events in all the Jewish lifecycle. Over the past several months our 4th and 5th graders have been studying Jewish lifecycle from birth to death and mourning. Each student made a small paper doll and shoe box ‘house’ to help them learn about the rituals, objects and blessings associated with each stage in a Jewish life. Their dolls acquired baby naming certificates, kippot and tallit, a yad, Confirmation certificate, a ketubah and other items pertaining to life events.

In a culmination of their study, they will celebrate with a ‘mock’ wedding in January! Students will make a chuppah and ketubah, and assist in the preparation for the occasion.

Teacher Kelly Crockett and her husband will serve as bride and groom. It’s sure to be a wonderful event complete with dancing and a wedding cake! Providing tangible and hands-on experience ensures that students are intellectually and emotionally engaged with the educational process. Besides, who doesn’t like a good wedding!
