Tzedek Boxes at Global Day of Jewish

Learning

Middle schoolers from a variety of synagogues and schools across the community came together at the Weinstein JCC to form their own concepts of Tikkun Olam while responding to this year’s Global Day of Jewish theme of “rebuilding.”

The students created interactive Tzedek Boxes in which reflections of acts of Tikkun Olam are recorded and submitted on an ongoing basis. The Tzedek Boxes were included as an interactive part of the Weinstein JCC’s Global Day of Jewish Learning event on Sunday, Nov. 13 and were later moved to the Virginia Holocaust Museum.

In the spring, we will gather to ceremonially open the Tzedek Boxes to read the submitted reflections and acts of Tikkun Olam, highlighting the importance of each righteous act, while encouraging future reflection and action.
