The sound of happy voices filled the room on the morning of JLeap’s inaugural event of the year, the Tishrei Holiday Hop.

Over 100 children and caregivers streamed into the Weinstein JCC’s Israel November Auditorium on Sunday, Sept. 11, eager to dive in and engage with the stories and motifs of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot. And engage they did!

As the photos illustrate, JLeapers constructed their own shofars, decorated apple and honey plates, engineered boats for Jonah, got cozy reading in our holiday reading nook, built small sukkahs, and even exploded etrogim! As our JLeap participants ‘hopped’ to the various stations, our teenage JLead volunteers acted as guides and mentors, providing assistance with the activities, answering questions, and lending a smile.

Meanwhile, the event created a forum for parents and caregivers to connect with friends and meet some new ones–a win-win for all who joined!

Thank you to the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond for supporting JLeap, and to the Weinstein JCC, JSU, and JCFR PJ Library for partnering with Keneseth Beth Israel to help create this wonderful experience for our Richmond community!

Stay tuned for our Chanukkah event! Details coming soon! Want to get involved? Reach out to Rabbi Elliot Plotnick, Keneseth Beth Israel’s executive manager, at eplotnick@kbirva.com.
