The Brody Jewish Center at UVA is so thrilled to be partnering with the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond for an exciting event to give folks a taste of Jewish life on Grounds and to enjoy a game day experience here in C’ville.

We are looking forward to welcoming the Richmond Jewish community to the Brody Jewish Center on November 5th for a pregame tailgate with students and for the opportunity to showcase Jewish life at UVA.

The Brody Jewish Center, Hillel at UVA, is the central address for Jewish life on Grounds.  Over the last decade, Jewish life at UVA has grown exponentially, and today we engage over 700 students annually (70% of the Jewish undergraduate population).

Hillel today is dramatically different than it was even 20 years ago.  With a thriving Jewish studies program, a newly renovated Jewish student center, and a vibrant Hillel community, Jewish life at UVA is as strong as it has ever been.

The Brody Jewish Center at UVA strives to empower Jewish students to take ownership of their Jewish identities.  Hillel today has an incredible staff working with students to co-create Jewish life on Grounds.

We work hard to develop student leaders and help them find their connection to Jewish life and give them the tools to live active Jewish lives once they graduate.

We know that these students will go on to do amazing things in the world and our hope is to inspire them to bring their considerable passion and talents to whatever Jewish community they find themselves in in the future.

The Brody Jewish Center has been so fortunate to benefit over the years from a strong partnership with the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond.  The growth Hillel has experienced would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the Richmond Jewish community.

From funding to wise counsel and professional development to support in times of crisis, the Richmond Federation has been an integral partner.  We are excited to showcase this partnership through this event.

We could not be more excited for the Richmond Jewish community to come to C’ville to see for themselves how much Jewish life has grown and changed over the years.  We invite you to enjoy a kosher tailgate, meet student leaders, see our newly renovated home, experience the vibrant Jewish community at UVA for yourselves, and of course watch the Wahoos take on the Tarheels.

Rob Slotnick, JCFR board member and co-chair of the event, said, “Unfortunately, academic institutions can easily become targets of antisemitism, hate and racism; the Jewish community at UVA is no exception.  Supporting Hillel and the next generation of Jewish leaders is essential to our community’s future.  The Jewish Community Federation of Richmond is proud to provide funding, collaboration, and advocacy to help facilitate Hillel’s mission.”

He continued, “We are very excited to come to Charlottesville to celebrate our partnership with some fun, food, and football!!   Please join us on November 5th at the Brody Jewish Center, which promises to be an awesome tailgate and a good time.”

The Brody Jewish Center at the University of Virginia receives an annual programming grant to assist with Hillel activities from the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond.
