New futsal programs for kids and adults is starting this fall at the Weinstein JCC!
Futsal is a small-sided soccer game and is typically played between two teams of five players each on a hard surface about the size of a basketball court. Futsal uses a modified ball that has less bounce than a typical soccer ball and small goals to match the size of the pitch. This format allows for a fun, fast-paced game full of creativity and improvisation for all abilities.
The Weinstein JCC’s very own Ben Tiner will run the program! Ben has been playing soccer his entire life and has been coaching for over 10 years. He currently coaches for the Richmond Kickers and actively plays on a premier team in the Central Virginia Soccer Association league, where he also serves on the board.
Ben will run clinics (45-minute for adults, 30-minute for kids) in which he will teach all participants about the game, strategies, techniques, and drills that will help hone their skills and make the game enjoyable for all. The clinics will be followed by organized scrimmages in which the Weinstein JCC will provide the futsal balls and goals. Participants are welcome to come for both the clinic and/or the scrimmages.
