Mary Mikels entertains residents.

It was a busy summer at Beth Sholom! Residents enjoyed a variety of new and entertaining activities. From Las Vegas celebration parties and a concert with “Elvis,” to a week of Hawaiian events that ended with a Luau, a band and hula dancers— even a Tiki Bar!

Throughout the summer residents also participated in short bus trips to area museums and popular venues.

There’s more to come throughout the fall! On Sept. 14th, Mary Mikels entertained the campus with her wonderful musical performance titled “Broadway Favorites & More”!

Mary was born totally blind. She was honored to be selected in the first round of American Idol and for the NC Master Chorale, the official chorale of the NC Symphony. She was also delighted to be a finalist in the National Blind Idol, as well as sing with The Tenors in two concerts.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed the concert and would like to invite her back again in a few months.

Beth Sholom Residents continue to enjoy the ongoing “Seniors Giving Back” activities as well, which included a special ongoing project with Or Atid’s Gan Chesed garden, which you will read more about in on the Home Page of this issue.
