The Hadassah Book Group will discuss the novel, “The Lost Shtetl” by Max Gross on Monday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m.

What if there was a town that history missed?
This delightful novel is about a small, isolated village in Poland. Spared by many things in the 20th century including the Holocaust and the cold war, as well as cars, indoor plumbing and the internet.
When an unhappy bride flees the town, with her husband in pursuit, the town elders send Yankel to look for them.
Outside the shtetl, he encounters a totally modern world that is confusing to say the least. Going back to the village with outsiders, the town is suddenly famous, and everyone must contend with the pull of the new and the push of the past. The book is funny and heart-warming.
The book was the winner of the National Jewish Book Award and the Jewish Fiction Award from the Association of Jewish Libraries. Also, Good Morning America Must Read New Books * New York Post Buzz Books * The Millions Most Anticipated.
