Kavod v’Nichum is pleased to present a series of workshops for the Richmond Jewish community to begin a conversation about end-of-life planning.

Guided by Jewish values, we will explore having important conversations with loved ones, creating plans for end of life, and learning about and writing our own ethical wills.

Join us on Zoom for one or both of the next two sessions.  You did not have to join the the first session on Feb. 23 to attend either of these. You have questions, we have answers! Learn more and register: https://bit.ly/KavodRichmond

 Part 2: The Plan

Wednesday, March 9, 1-2 p.m. or 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Many people don’t encounter the roadmap of decisions that need to be made about end-of-life until they are in the moment. This workshop will introduce how and what to plan for, long before there’s a need.

In this workshop we will:

  • Learn about Jewish end of life rituals
  • Discuss the steps to planning a Jewish funeral, burial, and shiva (7-day mourning period)

Part 3: An Action, Jewish Ethical Will Writing

Wednesday, March 23, 1-2 p.m. or 7:30-8:30 p.m.

When we write our wills we often focus on the financial aspects of what we want to leave to our loved ones. Gifting our values is another important element we can incorporate as well.

In this workshop we will:

  • Learn what a Jewish ethical will is
  • Explore how to gift our values and passing on life lessons learned
  • Begin to write our own ethical wills

This program is supported, in part, by a generous contribution from the Jewish Community  Federation of Richmond.
