The inaugural Weinstein JCC Golf Tournament was a resounding success as 80 golfers teed off at Belmont Golf Course for this sold out event!

The event was postponed a week due to weather, but the players brought their enthusiasm on Tuesday, June 29, for a blazing hot day. After enjoying some friendly competition on the 12 restored A.W. Tillinghast holes, the golfers gathered for a lunch by Garnish and presentation of the new Gene Ladin Award for the overall tournament winner.

Gene Ladin was one of the founding members of the original Jewish community golf tournament, back in the 1990s, which was then organized by Beth Sholom. Through the 20+ years, elements of the tournament changed but Gene was a steadfast supporter, committee member and enthusiastic participant.

Memory of Gene Ladin

In memory of Gene and to honor of his dedication to this tournament and the Jewish community, we are proud to display a trophy cup in the lobby of the Weinstein JCC each spring with the names of the overall tournament winners engraved on it.

Williams Mullen’s Greg Bishop, Ray Cilimberg, Matt Tatum and Cameron Wick will be the first plaque added to the Gene Ladin Award as our overall tournament winners! Congrats!

Event Sponsors

We would like to recognize our event sponsors: JAN-PRO of Richmond & Charlottesville, Weinstein Properties, Page Auto Group, Williams Mullen, Dunkin’ Donuts/Restaurant Services of the Outer Banks and Richmond Jewish Foundation and thank ALL of our players, sponsors and volunteers for their participation!

With their support, we were able to raise much-needed funds that will allow the Weinstein JCC to continue providing valuable resources for our community, helping those struggling through challenging times while also delivering quality social, educational and cultural opportunities for all.

Golf Committee

Special thanks to our committee: Ronnie Adolf (chair), Susie Adolf, Bruce Perretz and Nathan Shor! None of this would have been possible without their encouragement and support!
