Weinstein JCC is excited to announce that theatre will return to the stage this summer!
Under the supervision of Artistic Director Debra Clinton, Second Stage, the youth program of Jewish Family Theatre, will present “Carrie, The Musical,” opening Tuesday, June 16, and “Wizard of Oz,” opening Sunday, August 29.
‘Carrie, The Musical’
Based on the 1974 blockbuster debut novel by Stephen King, “Carrie, The Musical,” is about a teenage outcast, Carrie White, who longs to fit in. At school, she is bullied by the popular crowd and virtually invisible to anyone else. At home, she’s dominated by her loving, but cruelly controlling mother.
What none of them know is that Carrie has discovered she possesses a super-power and, if pushed too far, she’s not afraid to use it! Directed by Debra Clinton and with musical direction by Natan Berenshteyn, this youth production will surely be a hit!
‘Wizard of Oz’
In August of 1939, the MGM film “The Wizard of Oz,” based on L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel, premiered at Graumoan’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Since then, it has been viewed so often that the Library of Congress has dubbed it the “most-watched film ever made.”
A great family movie with a touch of fantasy, JFT’s Second Stage youth production, directed by Debra Clinton with musical direction by Stephen Rudlin, is a must see!
All performances will adhere to COVID-19 protocols including mask wearing and social distancing. Ticketholders will be seated in family pods. No food or drink will be permitted.
