Or Atid celebrated Purim in style this year!
With a traditional Megillah reading kicking off the festivities, we had an exciting post Purim celebration on Saturday Feb. 27! The congregation was invited to participate in a drive-by costume contest and pick up a Shalach Manot bag that had goodies for kids and adults – not just Hamantaschen but also ingredients for an adult beverage.
Later that evening, we played online bingo with prizes for young and old including generous gift cards, fine jewelry, and more. The evening concluded with a Purim Cocktail celebration for adults!
Our next “Movie Tawk” was held on March 2. Facilitated by congregant Amy Melnick Scharf, the Zoom conversation focused on “The Spy,” a six-part Netflix series based on the work of real-life Israeli Mossad agent Eli Cohen, who went undercover in Syria in the early 1960s. As an Arab, Eli feels the sting of being both an insider and an outsider, which “The Spy” posits as the reason he had to apply twice to Mossad before being accepted. We look forward to another engaging discussion in future programs.
As much as we all would like to be celebrating Passover together, we know that it is not feasible this year. Congregation Or Atid invites the community to join our Virtual Second Seder on Sunday March 28. Join us as Rabbi Hal Schevitz leads us through a celebratory evening.
