On Christmas morning, members of Congregation Or Atid joined volunteers at Shepherd’s Way Relief Center in Richmond for the second year in a row in the spirit of Tikkun Olam.
Shepherd’s Way provides services and assistance to the community’s impoverished and works to eliminate hunger in the Richmond area.
While social distancing and wearing masks, Or Atid members packed and served more than 120 hot meals while supporting the distribution of backpacks, toiletries, winter gear and other needed supplies to those living without shelter in Richmond.
Womens’ Book Club of Or Atid has been quite active, regularly enjoying engaging virtual discussions.
Last month, the club discussed Hala Alyan’s novel, “Salt Houses,” about a Palestinian family impacted by unrest in the Middle East. This month we look forward to discussing Gay Courter’s bestselling saga, “Flowers in the Blood.”
This exotic, epic novel, about a Jewish family in Victorian India whose fortune is made from opium trading, will undoubtedly bring another lively discussion.
